Writer's block is for wimps!

I'm thinking about started over completely from scratch with this book. I wouldn't say I have writer's block, but i want the book to go in a completely different direction than what I have now. I have ideas but can't tie them in with the scene that I left off on.

I have a lot of really good stuff. All of the scenes are rushed, though, and that's not good. I have to learn how to stretch things out a bit. I don't want my chapters to be encyclopedia long, but a measly five to six pages per chapter is just sad, in my opinion.

This is a little snippet of one of the rushed scenes:
---
When the door opened they expected him, of course. It’s a male thing. “Expecting someone else.” I just couldn’t resist.
“Yeah actually. You know where he is?”
“Is that a rhetorical question? I hope so.” He wasn’t laughing, but I sure was. “What do you want with him?”
Silence.
“Better yet, where’s your alpha?” That got his attention. I made a show of sniffing the air. “Smells like omega.”
“Beta actually.”
“If you say so. What do you want with him?”
“Just telling him about our mandatory orientation. New Were in the area, you should have known we’d come.”
“Listen, he doesn’t want trouble. He’s not a threat.”
“Never said he was a threat. Just making sure he knows the rules of the neighborhood.”
“I’ll be sure to pass the word along.”
“I’m curious, why are you out here?”
“He’s busy right now.”
“Aren’t you going to invite us in?”
“Wasn’t planning on it, but let me see if he’s unbusy now.” I walked into the house with more than a little caution. One thing I know about Weres is that you never turn your back on them. So I didn’t. They were waiting by the door when I came in. Probably eavesdropping, but at this point I’m happy to see them. I shut the door fast behind me. They had Lenny backed up in a corner.
“So,” he said as he walked towards us.
“Your welcoming committee,” I said trying to keep the conversation as light as possible.
“They, uh, want to come in and meet you.”
“Not a good idea, El,” Nate said as he peeked out the window.
“Well, their coming in anyway. Might as well make it seem like you’re not afraid.”
“OK. Let them come,” Lenny said with shear fear in his voice. I went to the door and let them in. It was more of them then we realized. Six to be exact. This time the alpha came out to play. Nate, Sol, and I were on the defense without looking defensive. Sure we were out numbered, but we’d take them. We stood there sizing each other up in silence for the longest time.
“Is this who you’re looking for,” I said pointing to Lenny. “Like I said he’s no threat.”
“I know. I’m here making sure he knows, and to introduce myself,” the alpha said taking a seat. “My name is Ion. Lowell. And you are?” We introduced ourselves.
“El.”
“Nate.”
“Solana.”
“Lenny.”
“You seem like good enough lads and lasses to stay around for awhile.”
“Good,” I was itching for them to leave before they let our secret out. “It was nice meeting you,” I said walking to the door. “Goodbye.” Ion sat there for so long I thought he was never going to leave. He walked out without a word to us with his hounds right on his heels. When they were gone we all sighed with relief. “That was interesting,” I said trying, as usual, to make light of the situation, “and surprisingly short. I definitely wasn’t expecting this much action on our first day in Montana of all places.”
---

I want more dialogue with Ion and Lenny because I think that would be interesting, but I, as of now, don't see how I'll work that in without changing the whole scene. I'll have to just give that a thought before I go any further.
